"Pacific Rim" was launched by Warner Bros. and Legend Pictures, a movie produced by Legend Pictures/DDY. The film will be released in 2D and 3D versions, and some theaters will have an IMAX version, and will be distributed globally by Warner Bros., a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Entertainment.
The creative team behind the scenes includes Oscar-winning director of photography Gilmore Del Toro, production design Andrew Nescolani and Caros Bier, editors Peter Immerson and John Gilro, and costume designer Kate ·Holly. The soundtrack was written by Ramin Jawadi. The visual effects directors are John Knoll and James Price, and the animation director is Hall Schick.
Director Gilmour Del Toro wrote and produced the film. The story was originally written by screenwriter Travis Beecham, who conceived the central element of the story on the Pacific Rim California coastline. Beecham called this original story, which contains a desperate battle that combines humans and robots against alien monsters, and these alien monsters do not come from the Milky Way, but emerge from the ocean floor.
However, for an action movie of this scale, the producer also needs to create a human-centered story that can be balanced with it. Producer Joe Jasini said that no matter how big the threat is, the theme of the movie is still the glory of humanity.
