Pain and Glory evaluation action

"Dolor y Gloria" is a movie about happiness, witty, smart, and emotional. It's about love, memory, art, mothers, lovers, and most importantly about yourself, which can be frustrating and indulgent in the hands of smaller directors. But Pedro Almodóvar Caballero is a master of self-reference and intertextuality: movies in movies, stories in stories, dreams in dreams. The director uses his creativity to generate electricity, and the movie runs so smoothly and so enticingly.
Director Pedro Almodóvar Caballero's world view is completely consistent with his work view. Fresh and boldly define his prestigious film. This film may be beautifully made, but it is also very dangerous. Strangely, it is called the most personal film in the director's work. It is a wonderfully detached and impersonal style.
Pedro Almodóvar Caballero has always been very personal in his works, expressing great sympathy for homosexuals, transvestites and full-dimensional female characters. However, it is only when I watch the film that I realize that even though the director is so much admired, he somehow retains the same generosity. But seen in the film, Pedro Almodóvar Caballero boldly opened the curtain, revealing his own insecurities.

The most tender movie I've watched so far this year. Watching such a private movie at a time when the outside world is becoming more and more turbulent has a subtle feeling of sitting in the eyes of a typhoon.

The pain is that people are old, afflicted with all kinds of illnesses, and they have lost everything they love, so they can only live in depression; the glory is that the memory of the past is still warm, so he reconciled with the actor who had lost his peace, met his former love, and met his childhood friend. The paintings meet again, and the love for movies begins again.

Pain and Glory quotes

  • Alberto Crespo: Will you come to see me?

    Salvador Mallo: I don't know. I don't think so.

Alberto Crespo: This time I'm not doing Shakespeare, or Chekhov, or Lorca. I'm doing you.

Salvador Mallo: If you do it badly, I'll feel terrible. And if you do it well, I'll feel much worse.

  • Alberto Crespo: [performing on stage, Salavdor's "Addiction"] I thought the strength of my love would defeat his addiction. But it wasn't so. Love isn't enough. Maybe love can move mountains, but it isn't enough to save the person you love.
