Where did Almodovar have the courage and skill to salvage and tear apart the memories and to coat these broken powder with dazzling splendor? I can see the shadows of many previous works such as "Bad Education" and "All About My Mother", but Almodovar no longer needs spectacles this time, and its temperament on a certain level is closer to Rohmer's "Winter's Tale". Time and space may separate our bodies, but they cannot prevent the reunion after seeing each other from a distance (quoting "Where to Find Friends in the End of the World" is so fitting). When the final scene of the play-in-play (albeit an old trick) characterizes all the memory images shown earlier as Salvador's creation content, we have to accept such a cruel and beautiful fact: Salvador's first-hand memory images Always existing only in his own mind and not shared by others, all we can see is the simulacrum of memory (but can't the simulacrum created by art be more real than real memory?).

Not the best Almodóvar, but the most personal and tender. Regardless of whether you are a creator or not, even if you feel an unsympathetic self-pity in the first half, you will be deeply moved when you see the ending paragraph of the film. Almodóvar is talking about creation, but also how a person should face and respond to the past that has left a scar or an indelible mark on us. Of course, creation is a good way to face it. Those who can't be found and who can't meet again will meet again in the dream intertwined with words and movies.

Alberto Crespo: Will you come to see me?
Salvador Mallo: I don't know. I don't think so.
Alberto Crespo: This time I'm not doing Shakespeare, or Chekhov, or Lorca. I'm doing you.
Salvador Mallo: If you do it badly, I'll feel terrible. And if you do it well, I'll feel much worse.

Alberto Crespo: [performing on stage, Salavdor's "Addiction"] I thought the strength of my love would defeat his addiction. But it wasn't so. Love isn't enough. Maybe love can move mountains, but it isn't enough to save the person you love.
