The film is based on Duke Ellington's novel "A Night in the Jungle in Harlem" after more than 60 revisions. Although it is an introduction to the matter between two pairs of black and white brothers, it is actually an introduction to the open and secret struggle between underworld gangs. As far as the style of the whole film is concerned, the director broke through the model of underworld movies established by himself, and used flowing images, precise sound and creative editing to show a world of underworld in Harlem in the 1930s. The film won the Ballon d'Or "Best Director" and "Best Film" nominations in 1985 , Oscars "Best Film Editing" and "Most Living Set" nominations, and won the British BAFTA FILM AWARD "Best Costume" in 1986 "Award and the same year's "Best Sound" nomination.

    1. You can't see her at dawn. At least you miss her at night. There is no reason for this unquenchable firefly. This stubborn HAPPENDING is awesome 2. Long live art, please accept my knees, I want to pack every font, every picture, every outfit 3. A decadent era, a rotten city, shining with a dark whereabouts 4. The rhythm of the characters and the sense of conflict I like it very much. It's very Coppola. Anyway, I like it very much.

The tap dances are in good tune, and Richard Gere and Diane Lane's pairing is sparkling, with one accompaniment to one song

[flushes his head down the toilet]

  • Vincent Dwyer: [on the cotton club] You know they don't let niggers in here.

Tish Dwyer: They don't let them in this club.
