What is a monster?

It is undeniable that many details of this film are not perfect, but in terms of the theme it reflects, this is a rare masterpiece.

Everyone can see that this film does its best to ridicule and criticize the South Korean government and the US military (government). It is estimated that it is precisely because of this (just because we are usually in a political need that we often move and criticize the United States from time to time), this film was able to be released in major domestic theaters. But what I don't understand is that the censorship officials of the SARFT, who are usually very eye-catching, don't see it: this film is more than just criticized by the Korean and American governments, but has deeply lashed out at the governments that are all superficial. In this regard, when our officials watched the film's attack on the United States with a smile on their faces, they did not expect that the style of the Korean and American governments criticized in the film is exactly what our government is best at! Most obviously, it mentions SARS in China, and what the South Korean government did in the film at that time was exactly the same as our government before and after SARS. So, I actually always wondered, this film should be listed as our number one banned film! Could it be... I still overestimate their IQ?

As a contrast, the affection and love between this little family member who has gone through hardships and setbacks is the most dazzling bright spot in this film. The aunt's last arrow like a shooting star and the death of the father when the monster tried to escape back to Jiangzhong after the whole body was on fire, although they were cliché, they were still very touching.

So, what are monsters? It is a government that disregards the safety and interests of the people, and a society that is increasingly indifferent and suspicious. So the biggest monster is actually here with us!
