Between the devil and the deep blue sea

The story itself is cheesy. A married woman falls in love with a retired airman. The married woman wanted to commit suicide, but the male protagonist left angrily, and the two broke up.

Tom Hiddleston interviewed behind the scenes of the deep blue sea and said that the reason why Freddie (the male lead) could not tolerate the suicide of Hester (the female lead) was because he, as a soldier who had experienced countless lives and deaths, could not tolerate someone so neglectful of life.

In the whole film, I think the director is playing too much with the timing skills, so you can understand the whole film and feel really messy. Fortunately, the actors are too beautiful to look directly at.

The lines are so well written. (Of course, I haven't found any good subtitles, nor have I found English subtitles. Let's just make do with it. Go back and make a disc to see how the subtitles are swollen.)

I have to say, when Freddie first appeared, he held Hester's hand In that paragraph, I really mean it. It's not just a lie. I really think you are the most attractive girl I've met. It's so beautiful! ! !

Then there is the clip of the male and female protagonists rolling the bed. Of course, the director's shooting method is still erotic and completely uninteresting.

But, really?! Director, are you looking for a man whiter than a woman to play an officer? ? I mean, really?!

The character of Freddie.

The character is so neurotic. He can lively die with jack in the bar simulating the battlefield, or he can listen to Hester say oh I love you so much in his ear and kiss her tenderly. However, in the next second, he will be angry at the museum and say If not we risk our life to protect the cultured ones like you, you wont be here being culture. I feel that the author is actually here to express a void in the life of a retired Air Force, leaving the battlefield Returning to life at a loss, and sensitivity to the class gap with Hester.
Of course, this is the only bug in the game. How could a Cambridge RADA graduate honors student like Tom Hiddleston be suitable for this scene! ! (I have to say again that the filming of this scene is just like the painting. Every scene wants to be cut off.)

After the battle, soldiers who leave the battlefield and return to society will be at a loss (refer to bbc Watson), but Hester hopes that of leaving a man to start a new life with another man, her way. (Instead of opening up a new battlefield for him like Sherlock, tsk tsk tsk, woman, you really don't have a man who understands a man)

Hester and her mother-in-law have a lot of fun.
"I just find it's hard to be passionate about (sport)."
"Be aware of passion, Hester. It always leads to something ugly."
"What would you replace it with?"
"A guarded enthusiasm. It's safer."
I will die of laughter at the guarded enthusiasm of the old lady. There are quite a few of these. It can be seen that Hester doesn't like the class she lives in. Whether it is with her mother-in-law or her husband, it is a mocking attitude. Of course, her mother-in-law is also a bitch with the old-fashioned dogma of high society.

From the conversation between Hester and William in the car, Hester said you talk like my dad, I hate that mix of anger and preaching.
From here I guess Hester is not a lady of high society herself, had a preaching and rigid father and was forced to live in a restricted environment from childhood, and then was brought up to be a seemingly elegant little woman, and then married A gentleman (well, William is indeed a gentleman, as can be seen from his attitude towards Hester. He knows that after Hester's affair, it is not anger and ambition, but helpless and trying to save. Although I thought he was Hester at first she father).

Freddie forgot Hester's birthday. Under all kinds of disappointment and pain, Hester attempted suicide. When Freddie came back, he found the suicide note Hester left her and left angrily.

Freddie said:
"Let me give you a case. Jack and Jill.
Jack loves Jill. Jill loves Jack.
But Jack doesn't love Jill in the same way.
Jack never asked to be loved."

Finally Freddie went to Rio de Janeiro alone , test pilot.

Don't pretend to be forceful, including literary force.

The Deep Blue Sea quotes

  • Hester Collyer: Lust isn't the whole of life, but Freddie is, you see, for me. The whole of life. And death. So, put a label on that, if you can.

  • Mrs. Elton: A lot of rubbish is talked about love. You know what real love is? It's wiping someone's arse or changing the sheets when they've wet themselves. And letting them keep their dignity so you can both go on.
