deep sea behind the veil

Halfway through the movie, I couldn't help thinking of "The Veil".
If he is an ugly, superficial, hypocritical, selfish guy who has nothing but appearance and sweet words, we can all seem to understand why the heroine regrets herself at the end and is determined to educate her children to be independent, "without relying on men" women.
But if he is a funny, cute, unique, kind, and handsome guy at the same time, can the above plot be overturned?
Is it reasonable to give everything for such a man?

"Besides love, you should have something else."
"You say it like my father, your tone. What should it be? ... What do you call the sustenance of your soul?"

"You think you can define me Relationship with him? Sex isn't everything in life, but you see, he's everything in my life."

"He still loves me, the same as before."

"We say there are many kinds of love, honey. , and at the same time there is false love. Anyway, it's not worth killing yourself for it."

"It's like we said, the choice between the devil and the deep blue sea."

To be honest, watching this movie I really I have the urge to rush up and strangle both the male and female protagonists to death.
Later, it was relieved -
born as a human being, born with love, and deserved to be tortured.

It's just that it is easy to say, but difficult to encounter.
——Is this love, is it true, is it what I want.
Or is this passion just a substitute for something?
Something that I should have but is buried in the pleasurable search for love, submerged in a false sense of security in dependence?

That's who you are, Hester—you, you as a person, as an individual, except what he should be.
But you don't love sports, you don't love everything, you only love him.

So sometimes I am very disgusted with the exaggerated love-to-death plots in some movies and TV shows. I don't underestimate love, I believe that it is one of the most unique characteristics of human beings in this world, and I believe that it is as beautiful as the stars. But I also believe that love should exist between two separate individuals. You can say it completes your life, but it should never be the whole.

In the film, the male and female protagonists hug and dance, and the background music plays You belong to me.

Ok.

Maybe one day, I love you more than the whole world.
But my darling, please remember, I don't belong to you.

The Deep Blue Sea quotes

  • Freddie Page: Let me give you a case: Jack loves Jill, Jill loves Jack. But Jack doesn't love Jill in the same way. Jack never asked to be loved.

Hester Collyer: And what about Jill?

Freddie Page: That's Jill's hard luck! I can't be bloody Romeo all the time!

  • Hester Collyer: Lust isn't the whole of life, but Freddie is, you see, for me. The whole of life. And death. So, put a label on that, if you can.
