death documentary

This is a documentary about death. I'd rather think of it as about rebirth.

The director used a camera to record all kinds of people who came to the Golden Gate Bridge for a year. This is the most famous suicide sanctuary in the United States, perhaps because of the beautiful scenery here, or because of its strategic location. Some people jumped over the fence and jumped straight down. Some people were hesitant and were rescued by passers-by;

Through this film, you will see the moment closest to death and see all living beings under the glittering bridge. I also saw the past and present lives of all living beings, and felt that there are thousands of reasons why life cannot but end, and the eyes of those who committed suicide who wished so much to continue.

    Those friends who couldn't understand the suicide while they were alive why should they let them comment on the suicide after he died? Is it just to highlight that the deceased thinks differently from normal people? To respect the choice of the deceased, they do not want to let others comment to let them go quietly after death.

    Everyone has moments of deep despair, and it's easy to end that despair in an instant, but most people don't, because tomorrow is still a new day. Maybe wait a little longer, and the sun will emerge from the cracks in the dark clouds.

The Bridge quotes

  • Witness: [after witnessing a suicide] When I talked to the highway patrolman, I asked him "Is this a rare occurrence or does this happen a lot?" And he looked and me and he sort of smiled and he said, "It happens all the time."

    Caroline Pressley - Gene's Friend, South San Francisco, CA: I don't know why people kill themselves. And yet, it's a small step to empathize... to say... well, because I think we all experience moments of despair. That, ah, it would be so much easier not to do this anymore. But for most of us, the sun comes out, and then "Oh well, Tomorrow is another day". Why he chose the Bridge? I don't know. Maybe there was a certain amount of release from pain, by pain. Maybe he just wanted to fly one time.
