The meaning of the first part is gone

I really appreciate the idea of the first part of "God Is Crazy" - looking at the lives of modern civilized people from the perspective of African indigenous people, which is novel and full of meaning; but for the jokes in the film, it basically depends on showing the "ignorance" of the indigenous people It was set up to embarrass the protagonist. I didn't like it very much, and I never laughed.
In the second part, the joke setting of the film basically continued the main line of the protagonist's repeated misfortune, the satire of modern life disappeared, and the role of the indigenous people was greatly reduced, making the contrast between the two concepts sharply reduced, even love. It doesn't seem to be as pure as the first one.
What impressed me deeply was that the last two children couldn't find each other's plot because of the loud echoes in the mountains. People are indeed insignificant in front of nature~ It can be seen that the level of filming at that time was still very limited. The shots on the car are all composited with the curtains in post. What is gratifying is the ending of the film: the bad guy is punished, the enemy turns the enemy into a friend, the father finds the child, and the love sparks—everyone is happy, and there will be no third part.

There is a lot less deliberately funny in the first part. Although the footage is rough, the ending of the story is very moving.

The Gods Must Be Crazy II quotes

  • Brenner: I'll get the bastard!

Brenner: [a few moments later he drives near the fleeing people, gets out of the truck and pours some gasoline in some tall dead grass. He then takes his gun out, fires and a deadly area of flames erupts]

    George: [groans and falls down]

  • Brenner: George!

    [tosses him a gun]

Brenner: Here. Make him get in.

George: [points it at Xixo like he isn't going to use it] Here. You get in.

    Xixo: [speaking own dialect]

George: [gestures with gun to truck] You come with us.

Xixo: [takes the gun out of George's hands]

George: [gets it back quickly, nervously] Hey. Hey. You mustn't do that.

George: [grumbling at how stupid George is being, runs over and knocks Xixo to the ground] Get me a tie down!
