Esther Blodgettis a Hollywood up-and-coming actress who makes her mark at a charity fundraiser for declining star Norman Maine. Soon fell in love with this older and more sophisticated man. And Norman was also deeply attracted by her naivety and liveliness. Norman created a few gigs for Esther that made her famous, and the two became lovers. Esther's growing career renown, thanks to his extraordinary talent, frustrated Norman, who was on the decline. He later became alcoholic and grumpy.
