Clarice () is a trainee agent of the FBI. A series of murders occurred in the city where she was located. The murderer was a perverted murderer "Bison Bill" who specialized in skinning women. Clarice is ordered to visit a psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal () in a heavily guarded prison to obtain information on the criminal's psychological behavior to help solve the case. Hannibal is a middle-aged man with a very high IQ, quick thinking but highly perverted, and an ogre. He asked Clarice to share his personal experience for his own analysis in exchange for his assistance. Soon, another female body was found. Clarice found two new clues: First, two diamond-shaped skins were stripped off the back of the deceased; second, there was a cocoon the size of a small finger in the throat of the deceased. According to the analysis of insect experts, this is a moth originating from Asia and is called "hell insect".
Another woman was kidnapped, this time the senator’s daughter. Clarice asked the doctor for help, and the doctor still analyzed her psychologically. Clarice said that the most painful childhood memory was a period of time after his father died. The doctor reminded Clarice that the characteristics of moths are change, from insects to pupas, and from pupas to moths. "Bison Bill" also wanted to change. Because of the abuse of his stepmother in childhood, Bill developed a psychology. He had been to three sex reassignment surgery centers, but was rejected. Their conversation was tapped by the attending doctor Chiton. He wanted to grab the lead, so he interrogated Hannibal, but found nothing. The doctor was later transferred to another prison. After hearing the news, Hannibal understood why Clarice always heard the screams of lambs, but when she asked the doctor to say the name of the murderer, Chidon brought the guards. Clarice was gone. Soon, the doctor opened the shackles with the wire of the ballpoint pen that Cheeton had dropped, killed the guards, and escaped. Clarice continued to search for clues alone, and gradually locked the subject to a person named James Garm, because he had brought a box of live caterpillars from Suriname at the customs and had also been to the transgender center. Clarice found the place of "Bison Bill". She and the murderer had a fierce battle in the gloomy basement. In the end, Clarice hit James and rescued the senator's daughter. "Bison Bill" was killed, but a more dangerous figure appeared again. At the celebration party, Clarice received a call from Dr. Hannibal. After the call was hung up, Hannibal wore sunglasses and silently entered the crowd, looking for his prey—Chiton went.

The Silence of the Lambs quotes

  • Hannibal Lecter: [shouts] No!

    [normal voice]

Hannibal Lecter: I will listen now. After your father's murder, you were orphaned. You were ten years old. You went to live with cousins on a sheep and horse ranch in Montana. And...?

Clarice Starling: [tears begin forming in her eyes] And one morning, I just ran away.

Hannibal Lecter: No "just", Clarice. What set you off? You started at what time?

    Clarice Starling: Early, still dark.

Hannibal Lecter: Then something woke you, didn't it? Was it a dream? What was it?

Clarice Starling: I heard a strange noise.

    Hannibal Lecter: What was it?

Clarice Starling: It was... screaming. Some kind of screaming, like a child's voice.

Hannibal Lecter: What did you do?

Clarice Starling: I went downstairs, outside. I crept up into the barn. I was so scared to look inside, but I had to.

Hannibal Lecter: And what did you see, Clarice? What did you see?

Clarice Starling: Lambs. The lambs were screaming.

Hannibal Lecter: They were slaughtering the spring lambs?

Clarice Starling: And they were screaming.

Hannibal Lecter: And you ran away?

Clarice Starling: No. First I tried to free them. I... I opened the gate to their pen, but they wouldn't run. They just stood there, confused. They wouldn't run.

Hannibal Lecter: But you could and you did, didn't you?

Clarice Starling: Yes. I took one lamb, and I ran away as fast as I could.

Hannibal Lecter: Where were you going, Clarice?

Clarice Starling: I don't know. I didn't have any food, any water and it was very cold, very cold. I thought, I thought if I could save just one, but... he was so heavy. So heavy. I didn't get more than a few miles when the sheriff's car picked me up. The rancher was so angry he sent me to live at the Lutheran orphanage in Bozeman. I never saw the ranch again.

Hannibal Lecter: What became of your lamb, Clarice?

    Clarice Starling: They killed him.

  • Hannibal Lecter: Well, Clarice - have the lambs stopped screaming?
