Admirable national propaganda film. The first three and a half episodes are more like the struggle history of old Jacob and the growth history of the love of the bison. Afterwards, due to more clues, the rhythm becomes slower, and the dramatic conflict also gives way to the telling of history. But overall, it's definitely a terrific TV series, the perspective is honest and objective, the story is vivid, and the music is really good!

Based on the two main lines and three generations of the Indian and white families respectively, interspersed with blacks and Chinese, compose and restore the western epic that spanned 65 years. The history of European immigration to the U.S., the Great Western Migration, the Gold Rush, the Great Western Railway, and the Indian reserved land are magnificent, emotionally delicate, and heart-stirring. BTW, it is also a collection of the origin of Thanksgiving.

Voices That Carry: [comes back to the reservation after going to the Carlisle boarding school for 9 years] I'm looking for Red Lance, son of White Crow, grandson of Running Fox.
Red Lance: [In Lakota] Who looks for Red Lance?
Voices That Carry: [in Lakota] His brother, Voices That Carry.
Red Lance: [repeats name] Voices That Carry.
[in English]
Red Lance: Little brother, look at you. Did they drink your blood and turn you into a wasichu?
[both laugh]

Mr. Royer: [Sees the Lakota doing the Ghost Dance and grabs his pistol] This obscene display will cease immediately!
Wovoka: This prayer. White people pray, go heaven. We go heaven too.
Mr. Royer: You will stop dancing and disperse!
[points pistol at him]
Wovoka: [dancing and singing cease as all watch]
[in Lakota]
Wovoka: We should call him Young Man Afraid of Indians.
[the Lakota begin to laugh]
