THE CLOSER is my favorite American drama, bar none. It is also Xiao An, and her father's favorite American drama. As my enlightener of American TV series, Xiao An has enlightened BUFFY who changed from the shit in the first season to the gold in the sixth season; also enlightened THE WIRE who changed from the gold in the first season to the shit in the fifth season; there are also In ongoing's DEXTER (double-sided forensic medicine), there is also a curtain call from the unmatched SIX FEET UNDER (under six feet). At that time, Xiao An and I didn't have cable TV or pirated discs at our home in New York, and we could only watch them online. We had to rely on her dad to record the weekly THE CLOSER on videotapes and send us a VHS tape every two weeks- Yes, that's right, the American people who don't pay are taking advantage of this method.

Chicken Salad Bagel on the street corner + decaf coffee with double cream + roasted brown Hash Brown + two episodes of THE CLOSER, is a weekend reserved show for Xiao An and I, but I think that life cannot be happier than this moment. I repeatedly asked Ann to express my gratitude to her dad for me when she called home, while guessing who the murderer was in this episode. Finally one year to meet Ann Pa face-to-face on New Year's Eve, and I shared Ethiopian food with this burly, gray-haired Chicago man, sharing our love for Branda Leigh Johnson, and laughing back and forth.

The second from the right in the photo, Dear Detective Tao - Michael Paul Chan - Believe it or not, the first TV series I shot in Shanghai after graduating from college, he played the second male lead. He doesn't speak a word of Chinese, he's funny and gentle. At that time, I was still hesitating whether to go to the United States to study, and I chatted with him a lot in my broken English. The god of time returned to New York, and finally one day, I couldn't help but write an email to Michael, telling him how much I like THE CLOSER. Who would have thought that 5 minutes later, Michael would reply to me. Two film workers, Xiao An and I, became completely heartbroken fans, jumping with excitement, she picked up the phone and called Dad An, "Dad! Dad! Officer Tao has replied to Mia!" Pa said calmly, "Tao is a detective, not a police officer."

This summer, my dad and I were traveling to the West Coast, so Detective Tao invited us to visit THE CLOSER's studio. We met at the Paramount Studios, where they were shooting this season's scenes. I drove from Sunset Boulevard to Melrose in my rented Japanese car, driving past the heavily guarded guard post, and nearly wearing big sunglasses and tying a silk scarf on my head. When we met our good friend Michael, we hugged tightly. He introduced us to the director, photographer, and artist. We also met my dad's beloved Mexican actor in 24 hours and took a group photo together. Before the official start of filming, Branda's actor Kyra Sedgwick came. She was very simple in life, wearing a pair of ugly sports sandals, leaning on the stool and changing into Branda's flowery high heels, frowning and whispering, "How can I return the coffee I want? Not coming". I looked at her, she looked at me, I was very cowardly and didn't go up and ask for a group photo. Finally, the real shot was taken. I sat behind the monitor. After taking a few shots in the first shot, the director said to keep 3 and 4. He turned his head and asked me, "Which one do you think is better?" I said 4th, He said he thought so too. This episode is the season three finale, Till Death Do We Part, and I can't tell which one he uses while watching TV.

Now that the seventh season is almost over, this is the legendary final season. "How would life be without you?" whispered in my head for all the wonderful memories you brought me. Thank yew, thank yew all.

The Closer quotes

  • Brenda Leigh Johnson: We are running him down the flagpole and that's all that there is to it. If you want to examine the body, you may do so after I'm done.

[Albert's body comes crashing through the window]

    Brenda Leigh Johnson: I'm done.

  • Det. Lt. Provenza: Ok, everybody; mark the date.

    [long pause]

Det. Lt. Provenza: I was wrong.
