The members of the SRU are not ordinary cops, they have the ability to do some things ordinary cops can't, including: "Save hostages, fight gangsters, defuse bombs, operate cutting-edge weapons," and they will always risk their lives to save someone else's life. They tend to use any means to solve problems in a very short period of time to save lives.
To become a member of the SRU, you must first have years of experience fighting criminals on the streets, as well as intense physical training and training in shooting marksmanship. In addition to this, SRU members will have the ability to operate cutting-edge weapons, including: "sniper rifles, snake cameras, robots, flashbangs, night vision goggles and taser ". But the most important weapon is everyone's intuition and experience, and the skills needed to deal with various crises.
"Flashpoint" was first produced by CBC Television and CTV, and later joined the co-production by CBS. The screenwriting of the play was also completed by members of the Writers Guild of Canada (WGC), so it was not affected by the WGA writers strike in the United States. Flashpoint is also the first TV series to be produced and filmed entirely locally in Canada and aired on a major US network.
The show stars Enrico Colantoni, the detective father in Veronica Mars, as the squad leader, Sergeant Greg Parker. Other cast members include Hugh Dillon as Ed Lane, David Paetkau as Sam Braddock and Amy Jo Johnson ("Felicity") as Jules Callahan.
