The Moscow International Film Festival 1997 won the Silver Award for Best Picture. Til Schweiger won the Gold Award for Best Actor. George Thomas Jahn was nominated for a Gold Award for Best Director.
The story revolves around a brutish, oversized Martin (Till Swigg) and a timid, neurotic Rudy (Jean Joseph Lever) who have been disliked by each other since they met in the hospital. After the two were also diagnosed with terminal illness, a series of coincidences made them close friends. Since Rudy had never seen the sea, this wish became the ultimate goal that the two of them worked so hard to accomplish. After getting into a Mercedes while drunk and confused, trouble followed. Because there is a box full of banknotes in the car, the police want to arrest them, the underworld killers want to hunt them down, and the natural end of their lives is approaching moment by moment.
The song "Knockin On Heavens Door" originally came from Bob Dylan's 1973 soundtrack for the film Pat Garret & Billy The Kid, where he played the role of a grumpy old buddy. In 1973, it was included in the soundtrack of the movie of the same name.
The song was included on Bob Dylan's "Before The Flood" album in 1974.
Later, it was covered by countless singers, and the most successful cover, even surpassing the original, was Guns N' Rose's version, which was included in Guns & Flowers' 1991 " Use Your Illusion I " album.

  • Martin Brest: In heaven, they're talking about nothing but the sea and how wonderful it is. They talk about the sunsets they saw, they talk about how the sun turned blood red before diving into the sea and they talk about how they could feel how the sun lost its power and the coolness from the sea and all that fire was only glowing inside.
