Emily Rios' gentle performance makes for a heroine that's captivating enough for viewers, and the final scene of the great shot of Magdalena feels like a gift when the film ends , with forgiveness, acceptance, love, and wonder in the air, this quiet film delights audiences in the best possible way, making them happier about the human condition

The film has enough impact for such a seemingly small production, with a nuanced script that showcases a region experiencing gentrification and the changes affecting a multigenerational Mexican-American family. When the audience thinks this is a story about Cinderella, the plot takes a completely different direction, and there are countless different directions that attract audiences to follow
