Ship of Theseus movie plot

The Ship of Theseus consists of three seemingly unrelated separate stories.
The first paragraph, a blind girl photographer, famous for successfully holding a solo photo exhibition when she was blind, but couldn't find the inspiration for photography after corneal transplantation to restore her vision.
In the second paragraph, the monk who resisted animal experiments faced the choice of liver transplantation or death because of cirrhosis of the liver - and the transplantation operation itself was based on the animal experiments he opposed.
In the third paragraph, the young man who originally only cared about money, after his Kidney Transplantation operation, inadvertently learned about the kidney transactions in the hospital and the society, as well as some behaviors of "kidney stealing". And because of this unexpected discovery, he started a lot of social activities that have nothing to do with money.
And at the end of the film, the protagonist of the third story is invited to a special screening of the film—all patients who have undergone organ transplantation , and whose organs come from the same donor. So we see that the girl who received cornealtransplantation and the monk who received liver transplantation in the first two stories also appear here. The film they watched together was a video of a cave exploration taken by the donor himself before his death. The deep cave is as mysterious and magnificent as the vast universe.

Ship of Theseus quotes

  • Maitreya: There was an island and you were to be reborn as a tormentor or a slave. The tormentor would make life hell for you, will give infinite pain to you and your kin, just for his pleasure. And he had no remorse over his actions to crush his victim. Add to that there was no karma, no soul, no retribution, no being responsible for your actions. And you had to choose any one of them. Who would you be?

  • Maitreya: We are all blind men trying to see the elephant.
