It must be admitted that Griffith still has high achievements. This film is second to none for the restoration of many historical scenes. Especially the Civil War scene, Lincoln assassination, has a real background. Aside from the obvious racial discrimination, the handling of such a big scene is not only a little chaotic and unfocused, but it also feels like a small picture in many cases. It can only be said that although Griffith is powerful, it is far less dazzling than the later Eisenstein.

Looking at your short comments are really all kinds of joy ~ a milestone in the history of film, the sense of the times and the sense of form are more than specific.

intertitle: If in this work we have conveyed to the mind the ravages of war to the end that war may be held in abhorrence, this effort will not have been in vain.
