The protagonist of the film is an 11-year-old boy from the Midwestern United States named Jack. He is one of three children in the family. In the beginning, everything in the world was amazing to him. He does things according to his own thoughts and the instructions of his heart. His mother taught him to face the world with love and kindness; but his father told him that he must put himself first if he wants to get stuck in this world. Both father and mother hoped that Jack would obey him, and Jack, who was in conflict, could only rely on his own strength to adjust these two contradictory thoughts. After witnessing hunger, sickness and death, Jack was psychologically traumatized, and he began to lose himself gradually. And the things that were once pleasing and joyful in this world have gradually become elusive.
Jack did not live very well as an adult. He lost his soul and groped like a headless fly in contemporary society. He hopes to change the face of this society and the thoughts of others, but in the end everything is a fantasy. He finally understood that the reason why society cannot be changed is that we are all members of society. As a result, Jack began to look at society from a different perspective and perspective. From a new perspective, society is full of miracles, treasures and unparalleled things. Jack is ready to forgive his father and is about to start a new journey in his life.
At the end of the story, Jack finally understood the true meaning of life. He understood love, beauty, kindness, and truth. Jack finally discovered that the starting point of his cognition came from his own family, which was his first and most important school. In the family, he learned the truth about the world, the origin of self-awareness, and how to show fraternity to the world.

The Tree of Life quotes

  • Mrs. O'Brien: You'll be grown before that tree is tall.

  • Father Haynes: Job imagined he might build his nest on high. That the integrity of his behavior would protect him against misfortune. And his friends thought mistakenly that the Lord could only have punished him because secretly he had done something wrong. But no. Misfortune befalls the good as well. We can't protect ourselves against it. We can't protect our children. We can't say to ourselves, even if I'm not happy, I'm going to make sure they are. We run before the wind, we think that it will carry us forever. It will not. We vanish as a cloud, we whither as the autumn grass. And like a tree, are rooted up.
