Shot with a hand-held shoulder camera, the film has a rough graininess and a shaky, realistic style. The director spent half an hour showing the audience the appearance of Olivier, and a large number of close-ups revealed the character's personality without modification. Image movement was random, long lenses were overused, and the camera movement was so fast that many scenes were blurred, leaving the audience dizzy. But there is still a certain amount of dramatic tension between the two characters. The actor won the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival.
